We have a special treat for you today on the blog!  One of our very own, Michelle Pommeranz, who sits on the board for Women of Toledo is telling us all about what drives her passion for helping others grow.  Not only does she spend her time mentoring women through Women of Toledo, she has also been helping people work towards their financial and investment goals for over 21 years! Michelle is truly dedicated to helping her clients reach their full financial potential.

In this interview, she goes into some amazing advice if you’re thinking of going into business or are in business for yourself already.  And of course, we couldn’t finish out without hearing why empowering and collaborating with other women is so important.

Read on and don’t miss our last question to Michelle where she lifts up and shouts out tons of other women in business in Northwest Ohio!

Tell us about yourself! What makes you, “you”?

I am Michelle Pommeranz a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ at Lehner Shope Wealth Group. I have over 21 years of experience in comprehensive financial plans and investment portfolio management to work towards meeting all investment goals. I am currently serving on the Women of Toledo Board of Directors as the CFO. One of the important things that makes me “me”, I love planting flowers and vegetables from seed and watching them grow. I feel the same way about my son, clients and the women I mentor thru Women of Toledo.

Describe your business/services and then tell us about what brought you to creating this business and why you’re passionate about it.

I understand that you have goals you want to accomplish. Whether you’re planning for retirement, income in retirement, estate planning, college education for a child, or financial protection for your love ones, you’ll receive personal assistance in choosing from a wide range of products and services. I have a unique view on managing a portfolio and my passion is helping clients reach their full financial potential.

What goals do you have for your business in the future?

I would like to keep growing my business while staying focused on developing a comprehensive, client-focused approach to financial planning that ensures my recommended programs encompass each client’s financial goals, time frames and risk tolerance.

What is your proudest achievement?

My proudest achievement is having a great work life balance. Growing my business while raising a child and taking care of a household is never an easy job for a woman. It took me a while but learning and implementing a healthy work life balance is amazing.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a business owner and how did you overcome it?

As with most businesses, navigating the last 2 years thru covid was challenging. I had to learn how to do the same things I have always done but in different ways and implement it in a fast manner.

What advice would you give to a woman looking to start a business or get into a leadership role? Is there one thing that has helped you specifically?

Have a solid family and business plan. Do your homework and make calculated choices. Successful people always have a plan and look a few steps ahead. The best advice I ever received was, if I was going to make it in this business I needed thicker skin.

What made you want to join HerHub?

Being involved in a community of successful women is amazing. You feel supported and empowered. The diversification of women and their businesses is also a great learning experience.

Why do you feel it’s important to collaborate and empower other women?

Empowered women can do incredible things. Collaborating with other women is really about learning. Every woman brings something different to the table.

If you could recommend one resource (book, podcast, quote, class, website, etc.), that has helped you in life or in business, what would it be and why?

‘God will not give you anything you can’t handle’ because it is true.

We love spreading love to other woman-owned businesses and we bet you do too. Give a shout out here to your favorite, local, woman-owned business (besides your own)!

I would love to give a shout out to the following #BOSSLADIES. Paula Birney, Arista Home Care Solutions, Deb Cash, Yanbal, Natasha Reinhart, RBI Insurance, Kerri Brimmer, Brimming Design, Adriane Weisert, Frisky Whiskey, Lee Ann DuBois, DuBois Accounting, Debby Peters, Connect Nation and Donnetta Carter, The Social Butterfly Company.
