Gabrielle Wilson (Gabby) is the owner of Social Events Co. and passionate about ALL thing’s events- that is why she decided to offer it all! From a full event service including mobile bartending, event planning, event coordination, event styling, and more. Just think – event design + professional bartending + budget management and vendor referrals, Social Event Co. is here for you!
Gabby, who resides in Oregon with husband- Justin, also a mom of two children Maddox and Hadley that she enjoys snuggling on the couch with a good movie.
When we ask Gabby, what makes you, “you”?
She responded, “I have always had a free-spirited type of personality. I am not scared to take risks and do things “outside of the box”. The most random things get me hyped: like- Whitney Huston and a good Crime Junkie Podcast. And chances are if you meet me will probably see me trip and fall more than once”.
Gabby has spent her whole adult career working in the Non-Profit world but has always had a passion for all things event planning. She started doing events for family, close friends, and work fundraisers. Gabby always knew she would work in the event industry but it wasn’t until she lost a close friend, very young and unexpectedly that she decided to take the leap of faith. “Unexpected loss has a way of changing your perspective on life. I knew I had to start doing what I loved because tomorrow isn’t promised.”
“I love to get creative with my clients and bring their vision to life. Every little detail matters to me and I think your event should be a reflection of YOU!
This is why my company offers everything from Wedding Planning and Coordinating to Mobile Bartending and everything in between. Life is short, life is unpredictable but all of life’s moments are beautiful and deserve to be celebrated” said Gabby.
Gabby’s goal for her business in the future is to have a venue. She wants Social Events Co. to have a unique and beautiful space to bring people together! Her proudest achievement is to creating two sell-out pop-up events within the first of her months in business!
“I can’t wait to bring more once COVID is done,” said Gabby.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a business owner and how did you overcome it?
“Experiencing a pandemic where social gatherings were prohibited during my first year in business. I just powered through and got creative. I wanted to show my present and future clients that we were not going anywhere! During the stay at home order, I shifted our company focus and did what I could at that moment… I created! I created “Self Care Boxes” and dropped them off all around the city to nominated health care workers + I created “Party at Home” boxes- as a way to spark joy during uncertain times. I created the design plans for our Traveling Bar. As cheesy as it sounds… I just kept going- chasing that light at the end of the tunnel”. said Gabby.
Gabby’s advice to other women, who are looking to start a business or get into a leadership role is to GO FOR IT! The world needs your gifts and talents! According to Gabby, it’s not easy, but it’s so worth it! And the one thing that helped her was to always remind myself why I started and never giving up no matter how hard it gets.
“I want to be surrounded by other women in our community that is doing amazing things. I love community and togetherness as we cannot do it alone. We need a tribe, in business and life” said Gabby when we ask why she decided to join HerHub.
Gabby truly believes that amazing things are created when women come together.
Women are strong and powerful. Look around the community and you can see the work that is being done by women collaborating and empowering each other.
Gabby continues “I love celebrating everyone’s unique gifts and talents”.
If you could recommend one resource (book, podcast, quote, class, website, etc.), that has helped you in life or business, what would it be and why?
“Crime Junkie… totally kidding but this is what I binge when I am in a creative block- random, right? The books and podcasts that drive/inspire me in business are a little unconventional but the quote I have written down everywhere is “When you become fearless the world becomes limitless”. It’s a simple quote that reminds me your fear is the only thing holding you back in this world. Gabby responded.
Any local, women-owned business that is your favorite, Gabby?
“I was recently introduced to the co-owner, Cheryl of Ignite Coffee & Tea and she has quickly become a favorite. We share the same passion and energy for bringing people and community together. We have some exciting things happening in the future and I can’t wait to share them with you. If you are ever in the Genoa, OH area check out her adorable shop and grab some coffee and lunch!
