Tell us about yourself! What makes you, “you”?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I love to laugh. I believe in raising each and every woman up; we have to stick together, especially in the business world. I believe in shopping small and supporting women owned when it is available.
Describe your business/services and then tell us about what brought you to creating this business and why you’re passionate about it.
I believe families should plan early and thoughtfully so they can have full peace of mind in times of stress and as life unfolds. I believe in treating my clients in a way I like to be treated. When purchasing insurance, you should have options; I like to make sure my clients have options now and in the future.
What goals do you have for your business in the future?
Be a face in the community and continue to volunteer
What is your proudest achievement?
My proudest achievement is hitting my goals for the year that I set the previous year.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a business owner and how did you overcome it?
The pandemic and working from home was a big challenge I face; just by learning to work from home. Also, a loss of income in 2020 like most people did.
What advice would you give to a woman looking to start a business or get into a leadership role? Is there one thing that has helped you specifically?
Find other women that understand what you are going through; we have to stick together. The constant comments made about women being in the business world are still present in 2021, which is insane but we have to stick together!
What made you want to join HerHub?
Women empowerment and constant support!
Why do you feel it’s important to collaborate and empower other women?
We have to stick together; we should be helping and lifting each other up. Women deserve a seat at the business table. Empowering others is giving confidence in others; helping the other one when they are going through a tough time.
If you could recommend one resource (book, podcast, quote, class, website, etc.), that has helped you in life or in business, what would it be and why?
My first event I attended was leadHERship at the University of Toledo; it was an incredible event, that I hope returns this year. As for social media, following any positive female influencer is what helps me stay positive.
We love spreading love to other woman-owned businesses and we bet you do too. Give a shout out here to your favorite, local, woman-owned business (besides your own)!
Angela Pantorno with Pineapples & Parties along with Savannah Sokol with Savannah Leigh Photography. Both of these women lift me up, challenge me to be better, and are great friends to me. There businesses are needed and their creativity is exceptional!
We’re sure this has inspired you, our readers, to lift other women up and keep striving for equality in the workplace. Thank you so much to Monica Thomas for her knowledge and wisdom in this interview!
