Do you love to know about all the coolest spots, restaurants and happenings around town?  If you answered yes and you aren’t following Haylie from Hayliestory… you need to go do that right now!

This week on the blog, we’re chatting with Haylie all about her love for creating travel style videos (which often feature the coolest things in Northwest Ohio & surrounding areas), how hearing “no” has fueled her, overcoming perfectionism and much more!

Keep reading on and don’t forget to check out her website and social media pages!

Tell us about yourself! What makes you, “you”?

Hi I’m Haylie. I go by Hayliestory online because..well it’s a long story; it’s a Haylie story. From fair queen to travel vlogger I invite viewers to learn and experience my unique travel style using video. The things I love most about travel include extended weekend getaways, festivals and craft beer (or any specialty drink).

Describe your business/services and then tell us about what brought you to creating this business and why you’re passionate about it.

I am passionate about connecting others with information so they too can create incredible memories. This passion led me to creating and establishing HayRobin Media Productions LLC aka Hayliestory. I offer collaborate services from hosting and social media influencer campaigns to short-form video production and sponsored content, that connects viewers to your incredible destinations, events and products that will help them with their travels.

What goals do you have for your business in the future?

The biggest goal I have for Hayliestory is hosting and producing my very own travel-genre television series. I won’t give away too much but can say that you can expect the same goofy, festival loving, craft beer drinking gal you already know….just on a tv show.

What is your proudest achievement?

I honestly haven’t given my achievements much thought. I approach a project, give it my all and then work on the next one; I don’t stop and soak it in like I probably should. I suppose, at the moment, I am really proud of my commitment to my faith and family. It’s so easy to put those two things on the sidelines when you are developing a business (or a tv show). I’m not perfect at it but do maintain it as a priority.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced as a business owner and how did you overcome it?

Being told “no.” However, it’s rejection that fuels me to work harder and often another opportunity follows along. The “no’s” are always going to be hard and possibly setbacks but I overcome them knowing that I control me and I am going to work that much harder to get a YES.

What advice would you give to a woman looking to start a business or get into a leadership role? Is there one thing that has helped you specifically?

Don’t wait for perfection, be like Nike and “Just Do It.” I used to constantly obsess over the need to be perfect (and still struggle with that need ) but realized it just delays the movement forward. This realization came to me when I was rock climbing. Standing at the bottom obsessing over the “right strategy” wasn’t going to get me to the top. I’d plot out the first few moves and let my instincts kick in. Did I make to the top? No. When I came back down I would re-evaluate and try again. Before I knew it I was climbing faster and faster but wouldn’t have made that much progress in an hour had I stood at the bottom obsessing over the need for a perfect strategy.

What made you want to join HerHub?

My grandmother owned a business and was part of an all-women-owned business organization and I thought it was the coolest organization. A group of like-minded women who are passionate about their dreams, dedicated to development and always encouraging each other. I saw that in HerHub and knew I wanted to be part of the organization.

Why do you feel it’s important to collaborate and empower other women?

By collaborating we learn and by empowering each other we help each other succeed that is why it’s so important.

If you could recommend one resource (book, podcast, quote, class, website, etc.), that has helped you in life or in business, what would it be and why?

Anything written by Nicole Lapin especially her book “Becoming Super Woman.” Her books have helped me with my financial literacy and health and it’s because of her books I became focused on my goals.

We love spreading love to other woman-owned businesses and we bet you do too. Give a shout out here to your favorite, local, woman-owned business (besides your own)!

There are so many wonderful women-owned businesses in the area! Whenever I am in Perrysburg I always got to make a stop at Maddie and Bella’s and Shimmery Bell
